Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Amer Mahdi, an individual based in Virginia, USA, who operates Perimeter (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Perimeter you agree to them. If you use Perimeter on behalf of a business, you agree to them for that business and confirm you can bind it. Our privacy policy explains how we handle data.
1. What Perimeter does
Perimeter checks security signals about a domain that are visible from the public internet, such as email-authentication DNS records, the website's certificate and appearances in known data breaches, and summarizes them as a letter grade with plain-English explanations. It never connects to your systems or asks for credentials to them.
Perimeter is an informational tool. It is not a penetration test, a security audit, or a guarantee that your business is secure or compliant with any law or standard. A good grade does not mean you cannot be attacked.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 and give us an email address you control.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Add domains to your account, or try to verify control of domains, that you do not own or are not authorized to manage.
- Use Perimeter to gather information for attacking, harassing or defrauding anyone.
- Scrape, automate or overload the service, get around its rate limits or verification steps, or try to access data that isn't yours.
- Resell the service or its results without our written permission.
Detailed breach findings for a domain are shown only after you prove you control it. Verification emails go to that domain's role addresses, and the domain's owner is told when verification succeeds.
4. Subscriptions and billing
- A subscription unlocks the full report and ongoing monitoring. It is billed monthly in advance, at the price shown at checkout, through our payment processor, Stripe.
- It renews automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from the billing page in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.
- Payments are non-refundable, including for partly used months, except where the law requires otherwise.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it over roughly two weeks. If it still can't be collected, your subscription is cancelled and paid features stop.
- We may change the price. We'll email you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it applies. Prices do not include any taxes that apply.
5. Data sources and accuracy
Results depend on public records and third-party data, including breach-data providers, which may be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Checks can fail to run, and grades can change as the underlying data changes. Use the results as a prompt for your own judgement, not as a definitive finding.
6. Ownership
You keep ownership of the information you give us, and you allow us to use it to provide and improve the service. We own Perimeter itself, including its software, grading method and report text.
7. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Perimeter and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or others at risk. If we close your account for reasons other than a breach of these terms, we'll refund any unused part of a paid period.
8. Disclaimers
Perimeter is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, and we do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data, or for any security incident affecting your business, arising from your use of Perimeter. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
10. Indemnity
You agree to cover our reasonable costs, including legal fees, arising from claims by others caused by your breach of these terms or your misuse of the service.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be heard in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and both parties agree to those courts' jurisdiction.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the effective date above and, for material changes, email account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use Perimeter after that means you accept the updated terms.
